Construction of Pantai 2 Sewage Treatment Plant (P2STP), Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur

MECIP was involved in the Pantai 2 Sewage Treatment Plant (P2STP) project in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, one of Malaysia’s major centralized wastewater treatment infrastructure developments. The project was undertaken for Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pembetungan (JPP), Kementerian Tenaga, Teknologi Hijau dan Air (KETTHA), with an overall project value of approximately RM983 million.

The P2STP development was designed to cater for a significant population equivalent and to provide advanced sewage treatment through a fully mechanized underground treatment facility. The facility incorporates modern wastewater treatment technology, with capabilities including nutrient removal and biological treatment, supporting improved environmental protection and sustainable urban development.

MECIP’s involvement included Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services in joint venture with Kumpulan Ikhtisas Projek, providing professional technical and project management support for the overall development. In addition, MECIP undertook M&E engineering consultancy services associated with the project, with an M&E component valued at approximately RM22.0 million.

The M&E consultancy scope involved the engineering coordination and technical requirements associated with the plant’s mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring effective integration of the building services and process-related systems within the highly complex sewage treatment facility.

The project also incorporated various sustainability and resource-efficiency features, including rainwater reuse, biogas utilization and solar energy, reflecting the project’s emphasis on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
