Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) Debottlenecking Project

Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) Debottlenecking Project

MECIP was awarded the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) Debottlenecking Project at ATB Sdn. Bhd. in Johor. The project aimed to increase refinery processing capacity and improve operational efficiency through the identification and elimination of process bottlenecks within the existing CDU and supporting utility systems.

The scope of work encompassed multidisciplinary engineering studies and design development covering the CDU, cooling water system, compressed air system, and flare network. MECIP conducted hydraulic assessments, process adequacy studies, preliminary equipment sizing, utility expansion evaluations, process flow diagram (PFD) development, piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) updates, and HAZOP reviews to establish a comprehensive technical basis for the project.

As part of the FEED package, MECIP developed intelligent 3D models, piping layouts, general arrangement drawings, material take-offs, electrical load assessments, instrumentation studies, civil and structural evaluations, and overall EPCC cost estimates to support project planning and investment decision-making.

Leveraging its extensive refinery and process plant engineering expertise, MECIP delivered an integrated FEED solution that provided the technical foundation for future project implementation, enabling ATB Sdn. Bhd. to enhance operational performance, optimize asset utilization, and support long-term refinery growth objectives.
