Spare Parts Database Project at Major Petrochemical Company in Qatar

MECIP is currently executing the Spare Parts Database Project in collaboration with DIGATEX™, a strategic digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing asset information management, spare parts governance, and inventory optimization across a large-scale petrochemical facility.

The project leverages DIGATEX™ Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to digitize, classify, and structure engineering and maintenance documentation. Critical asset information, including equipment tags, functional locations (FLOCs), spare parts data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and key engineering attributes, are being extracted and transformed into a centralized, intelligent database.

Through the deployment of four integrated technology suites, the project combines Data as a Service (DaaS), Knowledge Hub, Engineering Hub, and Inventory Hub capabilities to establish a comprehensive Asset Information Management framework. These solutions enable the creation of a standardized asset hierarchy, consolidation and normalization of engineering information, development of an asset register aligned with the client’s taxonomy, and improved accessibility to engineering and operational data.

A key component of the project involves intelligent spare parts and material master data management. By integrating asset hierarchy, BOM information, and inventory records, the solution facilitates material de-duplication, standardization, cross-correlation, and optimization against existing material master databases. This approach enhances inventory visibility, improves data quality, reduces duplication, and supports more effective maintenance, procurement, and warehouse management strategies.

Upon completion, the project will provide a robust digital foundation for data-driven decision-making, improved asset reliability, enhanced operational efficiency, and long-term inventory optimization. The project further demonstrates MECIP’s and DIGATEX™’s capabilities in delivering advanced digital asset management, engineering information intelligence, and Industry 4.0 solutions for complex industrial facilities.
